Mission
The Mission of the Business Administration
Department is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of
Business Administration, to form highly competent and socially responsible business
professionals. The Business Department wants to be recognized as the most advanced
center of teaching, research and extension in organizational sciences in Latin
America.
To accomplish its mission and fulfill its strategic
directives, the Business Department offers Undergraduate, Graduate and Specialization
Programs, and counts on several specific Centers of Studies and with the support
of the FIA – Fundação Instituto de Administração,
an institution associated with the FEA/USP
Graduate Program in Business Administration - PPGA
The Graduate Program in Business Administration is organized to offer two degrees: Master and Doctorate.
Both are courses of academic nature (strictu-sensu), aimed at forming Professors and Researchers, free of tuition and offer the candidates the possibility to apply for a scholarship. The Graduate Program (PPGA) is top-ranked according to the classification provided by the biennial national evaluation of CAPES – Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Professionals an organ of the MEC – Ministry of Education and Culture.
Master Degree
The Master degree aims at starting the formation of students in activities of research and teaching in the Administration field. Annually, up to 60 places are offered. The selective process is highly competitive (approximately 9 candidates per place), includes tests, Curriculum Vitae evaluation and personal interview with candidates.
Doctoral Degree
The doctoral degree aims at deepening the formation of the students in activities of research in Business Administration. The full dedication of the researcher is possible due to the strict academic nature of the course that is tuition free and offers scholarships sponsored by governmental agencies such as CAPES, CNPq and FAPESP. The selective process is highly competitive (approximately 10 candidates per place), includes tests, Curriculum Vitae evaluation and personal interview with the candidates. Important aspects of the evaluation are the involvement of the candidates with teaching activities and his/her intellectual production, characterized by publication in scientific magazines and events. Currently, 27 places are offered, but it varies from year to year.
Post Doctorate
The Post-Doctorate Program aims at expanding and potentializing the research produced in the Business Administration Department, counting on the participation of Ph.D’s coming from other institutions, aligned with the Department’s lines of research.
The Program is a full-time activity, developed under the responsibility of a Ph.D., according to the University’s regulations. It is expected that the candidates to the Post-Doctorate degree participate in the Department’s researches, as well as in the development of researches sponsored by is/her institution of origin. The outcomes of the researches are presented in seminars, periodically.

Developed Researches
The Business Department of FEA/USP boosts research activities, strengthening the traditional areas of excellence and creating conditions for the development of other areas, in line with the corporate environment dynamism and developing new areas of knowledge applied to the Brazilian economic reality within the globalization context. The Research Coordination works towards promoting the academic debate and the formation of active research teams, by means of several projects:

· Publication in the RAUSP – Revista de Administração
da USP (Magazine of Business Administration) and the Caderno de Pesquisas em
Administração (Business Research Bulletin )
· Working Papers Series, articles in pre-congress phase, which receives
opinion and suggestion of interested researchers, aiming at the improvement
for further publication
· Visiting Researcher Program, strengthening the regional integration
and the international cooperation
· Post-doctorate Program, bringing the contribution of high-level researchers
in specific fields of knowledge
· Scientific Initiation, with scholarships granting, intensive involvement
of the students and incentive to publication
· Research techniques training, didactic methods and tools for the statistic
analysis (SAS)
· International partnerships, fostering the flow of ideas, concepts and
knowledge, by means of exchange programs, publication and international projects.
